Head and neck workplace injuries are most common

On Behalf of | May 6, 2025 | Neck And Back Injuries

Depending on the field of industry in which you work, you will be exposed to different types of workplace injuries. Some are minor, like cuts, scrapes and bruises that quickly heal with no complications.

Others are far more serious and can have long-term consequences for the injured worker. However, data from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) revealed that, across the board, workers with head and neck injuries had the highest incidences of serious psychological distress (SPD) than any other workers in the United States.

Why that matters

Although many industries are remiss in addressing this, it is incumbent upon companies to put in place mental health management programs that can assist those employees who suffer debilitating workplace injuries.

Problems can linger long after stitches are removed and scars begin to fade. The worker may be so traumatized by their injuries that they can no longer work at the jobs they once held before they were injured.

Some head injuries are disfiguring

Disfiguring injuries can make the survivors afraid to leave their homes. They resist going out into the community and aren’t capable of returning to work. But their bills are mounting and they don’t know where to turn.

Workers’ compensation is a good option

Filing a claim for workers’ compensation is the first step toward the resolution of the injury you suffered and the subsequent psychological complications. Some companies will willingly assist their injured employees, but this is not the rule.

Many times, former employers deny legitimate workers’ compensation claims. Even if they initially appear compliant with the rules and compassionate toward the injured, they may balk at a fair settlement that addresses the economic losses for the worker once the employer realizes the injuries will prevent their worker from returning to their job.

Learning more about the way the state laws govern workers’ compensation can be helpful. Seeking legal guidance early on in the claim process is wise.
